In short
Baseten: An inference platform with per-token Model APIs, dedicated autoscaling deployments of your own models, training and sandboxes.
Klio Compute: serverless GPUs for Python. Run a function on a GPU with one decorator, deploy endpoints, task queues, schedules and sandboxes, or put an open model behind an OpenAI-compatible API, and pay per second from prepaid credit.
Where Baseten is the better choice
- Model APIs: open models priced per million tokens, with nothing to deploy.
- Multi-node deployments for models that don't fit on one machine.
- Reserved and priority capacity, volume discounts and custom terms for production scale.
- B200 instances and H100 MIG slices on its price list.
Where Klio Compute differs
- Klio Compute runs any Python function, queue, schedule or sandbox from a decorator, not only model servers.
- Prepaid credit: work stops at zero instead of running up an invoice, and a monthly purchase limit caps what can be spent.
- Modal code runs with one changed import line, and
klio migrate --checkreports what works before you change anything. - GPU prices follow the market and are shown live; a running container keeps the price it started at.
